As Islam FALSELY claims Muhammed the Prophet to be the direct descendant of Ishmael, and therefore Muslims lay claim to God's Promise to Abraham - that Ishmael would become a Great Nation –

Muslim belief emphatically states that  Islam - they  will be this Great Nation and rule the entire earth one day.

 Hagar Typifies the Law Covenant with Ishmael being the Jewish Nation – Fleshly Israel. Currently Jews believe they are the Promised seed of Isaac , but since Sarah refused Ishmael and so Isaac became the picture of Spiritual Israel. The Angel of the Lord pointed the way to water for Hagar and Ishmael., therefore the Nation of Israel are rescued for their portion of the Covenant through Ishmael ,  While Messiah must be spiritual, Israel never expected to be spiritual.

They were indeed related to God, but as children of a Covenant of bondage.
