Vicarius FELII Dei = 665 ! Why always spelled INCORRECTLY ?
To our knowledge no where from the pen Br Russell's did he ever officially published Vicarius Filii Dei = 666 for Rev. 13:18 - Neither in Reprints or in Volumes. He , like most of the times, did believe the title was on the Popes crown when this question was asked of him in 1911 and this seems to have been commonly reported as being true , Impossible to prove otherwise back then, none the less, (Q37) does not ever state the Roman numerals being used to "calculate" 666 because this was not his teaching of how to calculate which is found clearly in R323 pg 9
Many claim the "proof" is Q37:1 - We encourage all to look again at his complete answer that was transcribed.
ALSO - we believe the Lord Overruled and allowed for the fact that Vicarius Filii Dei was MISSPELLED not only in the 1911 Convention Report as Vicarius FELII Dei ( the "E" is supposed to be an "I") but also it is misspelled on Q37:1 which was first printed in 1917 .
By Misspelling it as Vicarius Felii Dei it would = 665
